Santo Domingo Este. An inspector from the Alcoholic Beverage Control Program (COBA) was injured after allegedly being assaulted while intervening in a loud music situation in the La Toronja sector, in Santo Domingo Este.
The affected individual was identified as Roberto Antonio Altagracia Mercado, who was discharged this Friday after remaining hospitalized for six days due to the injuries sustained.
As he explained, the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. last Sunday, when he approached a group of people to ask them to lower the volume of the music they were playing on the public street.
The inspector stated that, after making the request, several people attacked him with bottles and stones. He also indicated that the assault was allegedly captured by surveillance cameras installed in the area.

As a consequence of the attack, Altagracia Mercado suffered a fracture to her left cheekbone. Doctors reported that the injury might require surgery if it does not show favorable progress with the treatment she is receiving.
So far, the authorities have not reported any arrests or the initiation of a judicial process related to this case.
