Dominican singer Wandy became the winner of the first season of Operación Triunfo United States this Monday night, after obtaining the majority support of the public during the grand finale of the musical reality show broadcast by Telemundo.
With his victory, the 23-year-old artist received a $100,000 cash prize, as well as a record deal with Universal Music Latino and GTS, which will boost the start of his professional career in the music industry.
During the final gala, hosted by Natalia Téllez, the five finalists gave their final performances on stage. Second place went to Karol, followed by Lalah in third position, Leslie in fourth place, and Frankie in fifth.
The evening also featured special performances by the jury members: David Bisbal, Ana Bárbara, and Ximena Sariñana, who accompanied the finale of a season dedicated to discovering new talents in Latin music.

Originally from the Dominican Republic and a resident of New York, Wandy has shared that his passion for music was born in childhood thanks to his grandmother, who encouraged him to sing in church. Before joining the program, he traveled to several countries as a member of an orchestra and currently leads his congregation’s choir.
Throughout the competition, the Dominican stood out for his vocal quality, charisma, and artistic evolution, qualities that allowed him to earn the public’s support and be crowned the first champion of Operación Triunfo United States.
