Santo Domingo.– Within the framework of its 40th anniversary celebration, Arquitexto inaugurated the photographic exhibition “40 years, 40 works,” a showcase that brings together some of the most representative projects of Dominican architecture published by the magazine since 1986, which will be open to the public until July 31 at Galería 360.
The inauguration, held on the night of July 8th, was marked by a discussion that brought together prominent speakers, becoming a space to reflect on the role of the image in the documentation and dissemination of national heritage.
The meeting was led by visual artist and art critic Guadalupe Casasnovas, and featured the participation of photographers Francisco Manosalvas, director of photography for Arquitexto during a large part of the magazine’s history, and Fernando Calzada, visual artist and photographer.

In that context, they recalled that “since the first daguerreotypes, architecture has been an essential part of the history of photography: the camera not only documented monuments, but transformed the way the world could know them,” a reflection that put into perspective the close relationship between both disciplines and their contribution to the preservation of the visual memory of cities.
The exhibition “40 years, 40 works” proposes a journey through four decades of Dominican architecture through 40 projects that have left their mark on the urban landscape due to their quality, innovation, and cultural impact.
