Santo Domingo. — The president-elect of Chile, José Antonio Kast, arrived in the Dominican Republic as part of an official visit that is part of his international agenda prior to taking office.
During his stay in the country, Kast will develop a work agenda focused on bilateral meetings, institutional exchanges and technical visits, aimed at learning about experiences in strategic areas such as security, migration and border control.
The elected official will hold meetings with authorities of the Dominican Government, including a meeting with President Luis Abinader, as well as with representatives from different national sectors. A visit to the border zone with Haiti is also planned, where he will observe the surveillance and control mechanisms implemented by the Dominican Republic.
The visit seeks to strengthen diplomatic ties between both countries and promote regional dialogue on the common challenges facing Latin America, especially in terms of security and human mobility.
Once his agenda in Dominican territory is concluded, José Antonio Kast will continue his international tour with scheduled visits to El Salvador and Panama, as part of a strategy to get closer to leaders in the region before the start of his presidential term.
