Santo Domingo.– Within the framework of the Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2025 (FILSD 2025), linguist and lexicographer Maia Shelwood Droz presented her work “The ABC of DTMF (Dictionary of Puerto Rican words and cultural references)” in the Identity and Citizenship Pavilion, located in the Museum of History and Geography.
The dictionary gathers about 400 words and cultural expressions from Puerto Rico, present in the 17 songs of the album “Debí tirar más fotos”, by the urban artist Bad Bunny. According to the author, the work seeks to bring readers closer to the linguistic and cultural richness of the island.
“With this dictionary, thousands of people have been able to better understand Bad Bunny’s album and learn more about Puerto Rican culture,” he expressed.
During the presentation, Shelwood Droz also broke down the topic “Should I have taken more photos”, explaining the background of his historical and popular expressions, as well as those from other countries, highlighting their value as a vehicle of identity.
Sunday’s program also included the colloquium “Telling the Dominican Story, Here and There,” led by writers Mauricio Sánchez and Jhon P. Infante.

The dialogue revolved around the experiences of Dominicans both inside and outside the country, especially in the United States, highlighting the importance of preserving values and customs in the second generations.
