Santo Domingo. – The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MESCYT) highlights the need to emphasize the promotion of professional careers with the greatest demand and best remuneration in the labor market, which are located in the STEM areas, represented by Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics, with the purpose of strengthening local economies and expanding teaching programs aligned with the demands of the national productive sector.
Minister Franklin García Fermín addressed the issue regarding the upcoming launch of the International Scholarship Program on January 30th, which will award around 2,000 scholarships. He indicated that the call for applications will be open from Friday, January 30th to February 20th so that interested parties can apply through the website of the
MESCYT.
García Fermín reiterated that universities should make efforts to strengthen and develop research programs, while highlighting the human and social value of the international scholarship program promoted by the government of President Luis Abinader.
He mentioned that, although traditionally in the nation the most necessary careers lean towards the area of health, technology and education, highlighting Medicine, Nursing, Law, Accounting and Business Administration, career planning is an important process that allows identifying the interests, skills and goals that students pursue with their studies.
This will allow you to have a clear vision of what they want to achieve, they can chart an appropriate path during their higher education studies and with it, achieve success when they finish. In addition, planning gives you the opportunity to investigate and understand the most promising professional fields and curricula to make informed decisions about the education and training needed.
The Bachelor’s degree in Education remains the most in-demand career at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo (UASD), followed by the Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Medicine, Law, Clinical Psychology, Nursing, Modern Languages with a mention in English, Bioanalysis, Business Administration and Psychology with a mention in Industrial Psychology.
On the other hand, the least demanded professions are the degree in Dairy Industries, Anthropology, a degree in Philosophy and in the artistic area, the degree in Theater with a mention in Acting, the degree in Cinematography and Audiovisuals with a mention in Television.
