Valverde.- Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, led the inauguration of the Mao Daniel A. Colón School of Fine Arts, a new space dedicated to the training and development of the arts, which will operate at the José Francisco Peña Gómez Municipal Center for Culture, in collaboration with the Mao Municipal City Council.

During the ceremony, Salcedo highlighted the importance of having a space dedicated to artistic training, creativity, and the discovery of new talent in said city.

Likewise, he stressed that the opening of this school is part of the decentralization policy promoted by the Ministry of Culture, aimed at bringing education and the practice of the arts closer to children and young people throughout the country, while strengthening the presence of cultural institutions and programs outside of Santo Domingo and Santiago and expanding artistic training opportunities in the different provinces of the national territory.

The opening of the school represents a new boost for the training of present and future generations of artists from Mao and the entire Valverde province, by creating a space where children and young people will be able to develop their skills, discover new vocations, and permanently engage with the different manifestations of art.

The day concluded with a musical performance by students from the Mao Municipal Band of Musicians, who provided the artistic finishing touch to a celebration that marks the beginning of a new stage for the teaching and promotion of the arts in this community.
