PARLACEN organizes international forum to promote municipal tourism and dedicates it to the “International Day of the Girl”

Samaná. – With the emotional words of welcome and gratitude by the President of the Central American Parliament (PARLACEN), the honorable Salvadoran Deputy Carlos Hernández and with the assistance of important legislative and Municipalist authorities that make up this regional parliamentary body, the V forum of Municipalist Women of the SICA Region was inaugurated and which has as its motto: “Strengthening Municipal Tourism, Promoting Female Empowerment and Entrepreneurship through International Cooperation and Strategic Alliances”; activity, which for this year being focused on female empowerment has also been dedicated to the Commemoration of the “International Day of the Girl”, with the participation of two meritorious students aged 6 and 13 years representing the girls of the world on the occasion of their international day. The V International Forum for the strengthening of Municipal Tourism and, for female empowerment, organized in the Province of Samaná of DR, and sponsored by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Panama, the Municipality of Panama and the Latin American Bank (CAF), coordinated by the Municipal Affairs Commission of PARLACEN, in addition to female municipal authorities, had a wide representation of women authorities from the most outstanding institutions in the country such as: the Women’s Forum of Political Parties of the Dominican Republic, the International Women’s Collective for Democracy, the Princesas del Siglo 21 Foundation and the Más Mujeres Políticas Foundation, special guest entities by the organizers and who supported the coordination of dozens of female Manicurists who attended such an important event that had a wide participation of international exhibitors, who advocated for greater empowerment in sustainable tourism, to generate female entrepreneurship, which in turn, translates into greater opportunities. The board of directors was headed by HD Carlos Hernández, President of PARLACEN; HD Rubén Darío Tercero Campos Rodríguez, President of the Municipal Affairs and Citizenship Development Commission; HA Ana Reyes, Mayor of the Municipal District of Las Galeras, Samaná; HD Cecilia Vargas, Secretary; HD Catalina Olea Salazar.

During his intervention, President HD Carlos Hernández highlighted that more than 50% of tourism ventures in the SICA region are led by women, but most are informal and with limited access to resources, training, and institutional support, reflecting a deep equity gap that must be addressed urgently; In addition to him, the other participants expressed their gratitude to all those present for the massive support that the forum received in its fifth edition. Likewise, the mayor of Samaná, the honorable Ana Reyes, expressed her satisfaction and gratitude to both the organizers of the forum and the audience present for being present in such an important tourist municipality as Las Galeras de Samaná, encouraging this initiative not to be the only one in its Province, highlighting the tourist potential that Samaná has.


In her speech, the 9-year-old girl Jelmayhony De León Pérez, when addressing those present about the origin of the Municipal District of Las Galeras, emphasized the historical beauties that characterize this municipality.


Upon concluding the forum, the teenager María Fernanda Gómez, a visual artist, and Coordinator of the International Women’s Volunteer for Democracy, from the Women’s Collective and the Princesas del Siglo 21 Foundation, highlighted in her speech the importance of highlighting the Christian values that characterize us as Latin American nations, showing that each of the speakers began their speeches or interventions by giving thanks to God.

Upon concluding her words, María Fernanda presented a recognition plaque to the honorable deputies Carlos Hernández (President of PARLACEN), Rubén Darío Campos, Cecilia Vargas, and Catalina Olea Salazar (members of the international Parliamentary body); as well as María Fernanda, who is also a Plastic artist, presented one of her oil-on-desk artworks, titled: “Beyond Inclusion”, to the honorable Deputies Carlos Hernández and Silvia García (Former President of PARLACEN), for their support of specific programs in favor of the visibility of girls.
