Santo Domingo.-At the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, a judge imposed three months of preventive prison, as a coercive measure, on a man who shot and killed his romantic partner upon arriving at the Darío Contreras hospital, in Santo Domingo East, in an incident in which he also seriously wounded another woman, on June 22nd.

Tony Vallejo Méndez was sent to prison after the investigative body established with different evidence the gravity of the acts committed to the detriment of Nancy Sánchez Gálvez, as well as against another woman who was at the scene, who was seriously injured in the midst of the event and still remains hospitalized in serious condition.

The Public Ministry indicated that prior to the events recorded at the health center, while they were in the home they shared, Vallejo Méndez asked Sánchez Galvez to hand over his cell phone, leading to a heated argument between the two during which he struck the victim and caused injuries to her face.

Faced with the aggression, the victim drove her vehicle to the hospital to receive assistance, and it was under those circumstances that she was attacked by the defendant as she was preparing to get out of the vehicle in front of the emergency area.

At that moment, Sánchez Galvez was surprised by her attacker, who chased her on a motorcycle, demanding once again that she hand over her cell phone, and immediately fired the shots that caused her death, with the other woman who was at said health center also being struck by the gunfire.

Investigating prosecutor Jenrry Arias gave the case the provisional legal classification of violation of articles 2, 295, 295, and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as articles 83 and 86 of Law 631-16 for the Control and Regulation of Weapons, Ammunition, and Related Materials.

During the hearing for the coercive measure, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, represented by litigating prosecutor Tito Oseas González Ramírez, presented sufficient evidence before the court linking the defendant to the acts of which they are accused.

Judge Karen Casado Minyety, of the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Santo Domingo East, ordered the serving of preventive detention at the Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR) of San Pedro de Macorís.
