San Juan de la Maguana.– The municipality of San Juan de la Maguana will be the setting this Sunday, August 2, for an artistic and patriotic day on the occasion of the 163rd anniversary of the Restoration War, in an event that will also recognize the athletes from the province who won medals at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
The activity, organized by the Que Viva la Patria platform with the support of President Luis Abinader and the San Juan de la Maguana City Hall, led by Lenin de la Rosa, will take place starting at 8:00 p.m. at the Triumphal Arch.
The show will feature musical performances by Yiyo Sarante, Eddy Herrera, and Bulín 47, while the hosting will be handled by Michael Miguel Holguín, Aquiles Correa, and Julio Clemente.
During the ceremony, the athletes from San Juan who reached the podium at the Central American and Caribbean Games will also be honored. The recognition will include Robert Flonterino, gold medal winner in judo (-90 kg); José Nova, silver medal in judo (+100 kg); Diego García Ramírez, bronze medal in judo (-68 kg), and Moisés Hernández, bronze medalist in taekwondo.

The organizers reported that the event will combine music, sports recognition, and a tribute to the Restoration War of 1863, considered one of the most important events in national history for restoring sovereignty to the Dominican Republic after the annexation to Spain.

The invitation is addressed to the families of San Juan de la Maguana and the entire Southern region, with the goal of commemorating the patriotic date and celebrating the sporting achievements of the province’s representatives in an event with free access.
