SNS strengthens hospital management with the appointment of new directors at Padre Billini and Vicente Noble hospitals

Santo Domingo.- The executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio Landrón, swore in new directors at the Padre Billini Hospital in Santo Domingo, the Dr. Jaime Mota Regional Hospital, and the municipal hospitals of Galván and Vicente Noble in the Enriquillo Region, with the purpose of continuing to strengthen management and guarantee timely, safe, humanized, and quality health services.

Dr. Landrón indicated that the appointments are part of the actions taken to strengthen the organization and administration of public health centers, where assessments are being conducted to evaluate needs and take important actions that contribute to further strengthening the Public Network, through management aimed at improving the quality of care, optimizing resources, and responding effectively to the needs of the population.

Padre Billini Teaching Hospital

At the Padre Billini Teaching Hospital, the SNS appointed Dr. Gewil Elías Acosta, a medical specialist in Neurology, a graduate of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), where he obtained his medical degree in 2003 and subsequently completed his specialty.

The physician has more than two decades of professional experience, in addition to training in Hospital Management and Business Management. Throughout his career, he served as an assistant physician and aide at the Inmaculada Concepción Hospital and held managerial roles in the private sector, including the medical directorship of a clinic in Cotuí for approximately eight years.

Acosta expressed his commitment to work with humility and responsibility, placing the patient as the priority of his administration. “The first thing is to provide quality care to the patient, to carry out an assessment and see what the priorities are, especially to strengthen care for renal patients,” he expressed.

Vicente Noble Municipal Hospital

Dr. Aser Báez, the new director of the Vicente Noble Municipal Hospital, is a physician who graduated from the Universidad Central del Este (UCE), where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree. He holds master’s degrees in Public Health, with concentrations in Epidemiology and Health Management, as well as training as a health services auditor and diplomas in Hospital Management.

His professional experience includes roles such as general practitioner at the La Lista Primary Care Unit, number 02, in Cabral, Barahona, and operational coordinator of the Directorate of Extra-hospital Emergency Care Services (DAEH).

Upon assuming the directorship of the Vicente Noble Municipal Hospital, Báez expressed his commitment to developing an organized, transparent, and results-oriented management.

“My main objective will be to strengthen the Vicente Noble Municipal Hospital, promoting organized, transparent, and results-oriented management. I want to improve the quality and humanization of services, optimize available resources, strengthen teamwork, and guarantee timely, safe, and dignified care for every patient,” he expressed.
