Suspect in kidnapping and death of “El Gordo” surrenders to National Police

Juan Dolio.– The National Police reported this Monday the surrender of a man identified as allegedly involved in the kidnapping and subsequent death of Jesús Rodríguez, alias “El Gordo”, whose body was found burned inside a vehicle in this town.

This is Maicol Miguel Pantaleón, alias “La Fuga”, 30 years old, who surrendered to the spokesman of the National Police through a commission headed by Virgilio Alcántara, president of the Dominican Committee of Human Rights, along with relatives of the investigated. According to the police report, “The Escape” was received at the institution’s headquarters by Colonel Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for the National Police, who guaranteed respect for due process and fundamental rights during the course of the investigations.

The authorities specified that, in relation to this same case, another person involved, identified as Wander Erickson Soriano, alias “Campe”, who was actively sought by the investigative bodies, had also surrendered last Saturday. The National Police indicated that investigations are ongoing with the aim of fully clarifying the event and determining if there are other possible individuals involved in the case.
