Mao, Valverde. – A smuggling of 91,400 cigarettes was seized by members of the Dominican Republic Army during an operation carried out in the La Caída section of the Mao municipality, Valverde province.
The action was executed through an intelligence operation in which a Honda CRV jeep, white in color, license plate G418515, driven by Francis Aquino Aquino, who was accompanied by Diana Inés Carrasco Castillo and Luis Almonte Almonte, was arrested.
Upon searching the vehicle, the military found foreign-made Capital brand cigarettes hidden in different compartments of the vehicle, in addition to RD$25,415 in cash.
The three detainees and the illicit merchandise were transferred to the headquarters of the 4th Infantry Brigade of the ERD, located in Mao, to be placed at the disposal of the authorities and carry out the corresponding processes.
