SANTO DOMINGO.- Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) together with soldiers from the Joint Interagency Task Force and with the participation of the Public Ministry seized 13 bales of marijuana, during an operation carried out at the military checkpoint in the Los Pilones area, in the province of Azua.
n” “nThe drugs were being transported in an SUV and were found hidden in the spare tire compartment, after authorities intercepted the vehicle following an intelligence report.

In the operation, a man and a woman were arrested, who, in addition to the 13 bales of marijuana, were transporting a total of 129 pounds of the narcotic plant. The authorities also seized three cell phones and cash from them.

The detainees, whose identities were not disclosed, will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to be brought to justice for alleged violation of Law 50-88 on Drugs and Controlled Substances.
