Instituto Duartiano begins events for Duarte’s birthday with the “Cavalcade for the Homeland”

Santo Domingo, R.D.– The Duarte Institute began this Sunday the commemorative activities for the 213th anniversary of the birth of Juan Pablo Duarte with the realization of the traditional “Cavalcade for the Homeland”, an event that brought together hundreds of citizens and visitors in the Colonial City to pay tribute to the Father of the Homeland.

The day began at 4:00 in the afternoon from the Altar de la Patria, where a large column of riders toured emblematic streets such as Pina, Padre Billini, Isabel la Católica and Mercedes, arousing the enthusiasm of the public who accompanied the parade with applause and displays of civility. The activity highlighted the historical role of the horse in the independence feats and strengthened the sense of national identity.

One of the most solemn moments was experienced in Duarte Park, where the Dominican Republic Army band performed the National Anthem and a hymn to Duarte, followed by the laying of a floral offering before the statue of the hero. The president of the Duartiano Institute, Wilson Gómez Ramírez, highlighted that the activity reaffirms the validity of the values of sovereignty, freedom and independence instilled by Duarte. The cavalcade featured the participation of equestrian associations, the Army’s Blood Cavalry, and various equestrian groups from different regions of the country, demonstrating the national scope of the call. The event concluded with the return to the Altar de la Patria, leaving a message of renewal of patriotic pride and commitment to Dominican historical memory.
