Santo Domingo, RD. – The director of the
National Institute of Transit and Terrestrial Transportation (
Intrant), Milton Morrison, will speak to the country about the criminal complaint he filed against the company Dekolor, S.R.L., for attempted bribery and blackmail.
The interview will be broadcast this Saturday, July 12, on Nuria Piera’s investigative journalism program.
According to the director of INTRANT, representatives of Dekolor —the company responsible for printing driver’s licenses— offered him one million dollars in cash and three million pesos monthly in exchange for renewing their contract with the institution.
Furthermore, he denounced that the company tried to pressure him with personal information, alleging that the communicator Jochy Gómez had discovered a property and a bank account of his in the United States, insinuating that they would use this data to blackmail him.
Morrison became the first public official in the Dominican Republic to sue a private company for an attempted corruption.
It is recalled that on July 4th, INTRANT formally filed a criminal complaint with civil action against Dekolor, in an unprecedented event in the fight against corruption within the state apparatus.
