PN and MP leave several detainees and the seizure of weapons and illegal merchandise in Santiago

Santiago.— Agents of the Cibao Central Regional Intelligence Sub-Directorate (DINTEL), in coordination with members of the SWAT team and the Preventive Police, and accompanied by representatives of the Public Ministry, carried out several raids in different sectors of the province of Santiago, which culminated in the arrest of several people and the seizure of weapons and illegal merchandise. During the interventions, the authorities seized a total of 26 bladed weapons of different types; a Glock brand pistol, model 43, 9-millimeter caliber, with its magazine and seven cartridges; four additional ammunitions; two catalytic converters; a cell phone, as well as 240 units of cigarettes of clandestine origin, distributed in packs and boxes.

The raids were carried out in the early hours of the morning and the morning of Thursday, January 15, 2026, in the municipal district of Sabana Iglesia; the La Herradura sector; the Los Guandules sector, of the municipal district of Hato del Yaque, and the Cañafistol sector, of the municipality of San José de las Matas. The actions were carried out under duly authorized court orders, identified by the numbers 2026-AJ0001552, 2026-AJ0001510, 2026-AJ0001514, 2026-AJ0001518 and 2026-AJ0001519. As a result of the operations, Víctor Rosario Fernández, 55 years old; Sirio Alcibiades de León Rojas, 48; Jaime Luis Burgos Flores, 40, and Rusbert Javier Almengo Díaz, alias “Rube”, 37 years old, were arrested. In another case, corresponding to Masito Esteven, he was not present at the time of the raid, so the search was carried out in the presence of a family member. Both the occupied evidence and the detainees remain in the custody of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes, in accordance with the provisions of the law.
