San Cristóbal. A two-year-old child remains in critical condition after being shot in the head, in an incident that occurred at a home in the community of Nigua, San Cristóbal province.

According to preliminary information, the minor was under the care of a woman at the time of the incident, after which he was taken to a health center where he is receiving medical attention due to the severity of the wound.

The spokesperson for the National Police, Diego Pesqueira, reported that the circumstances under which the incident occurred remain under investigation and that police agents, together with the Public Ministry, have conducted interviews with several people related to the home where the event took place.

Among the people interviewed are a first lieutenant of the National Police, his son, and others present, with the aim of establishing how the shot that hit the minor occurred.

Pesqueira explained that there are several versions regarding the case and that the authorities are awaiting the progress of the investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident with precision.

The police spokesperson indicated that, because it is a case involving a minor, any additional information will be provided by the prosecutor in charge of the investigation.

The authorities are keeping the investigation open to determine responsibilities and clarify what happened in this San Cristóbal community.
