Windshield washers and vendors removed from the main intersections of the National District

Santo Domingo.- The National District Mayor’s Office and the National Police carried out an operation to remove windshield washers and street vendors from some of the busiest intersections in the capital. The operation covers the avenues John F. Kennedy with Máximo Gómez, 27 de Febrero with Máximo Gómez, Abraham Lincoln with 27 de Febrero, Winston Churchill with 27 de Febrero, José Núñez de Cáceres, Sarasota, Máximo Gómez with Nicolás de Ovando, Leopoldo Navarro with San Martín, and Independencia.

The measure, led by the Directorate of Advocacy and Use of Public Spaces and the Command of Department C-1 of the National Police, “is part of a sustained municipal policy that seeks to organize public space, guarantee free transit and improve citizen security,” according to a statement from the Mayor’s Office of the capital. The uniformed officers warned that permanent surveillance will be maintained in the intervened areas to prevent these irregular practices from continuing.
