Santo Domingo.- The Senate of the Republic approved this Monday, in second reading, the bill that establishes June 21 as the “National Dominican Rock Day”, in honor of the birth of the iconic singer-songwriter and poet Luis “El Terror” Días.

The choice of June 21st corresponds to the day Luis Díaz was born, and seeks to serve as a date for celebration and reflection on the history and influence of Creole rock. The approval has been enthusiastically received by musicians and cultural promoters, including producer Edwin Sánchez, who stated that “this law is a fair recognition of more than 70 years of Dominican rock history.” Sánchez also thanked cultural manager Guillermo Liriano and all those who have contributed to positioning the genre as a legitimate path of national identity and expression.
