The Minister of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), Carlos Bonilla, participated this Tuesday in the Governmental Management conference “Challenges, Objectives and Goals” of the Business 2025 Forum, an initiative organized by Gala Media Group.
In the event, Minister Bonilla highlighted the plans executed by MIVED in terms of the delivery of new housing units, home repairs, construction and reconstruction of hospitals, as well as the construction of university centers and correctional rehabilitation centers.
Similarly, the official highlighted the creation of a new Building Code in the country, in addition to the presentation of a proposal to reform the regulatory framework for the supervision of State works.
Bonilla said that “the Ministry of Housing and Buildings builds everything that has to do with buildings, houses are buildings, hospitals are buildings, hospitals are buildings, universities are buildings and prisons are buildings, so all that type of work has a specialty, the ministry is designed to manage that type of project.”
In terms of housing, Bonilla highlighted the construction of nearly 10,000 new housing units, far exceeding the goal set by MIVED for the first years of implementation of the Mi Vivienda Plan, in addition to the more than 51,000 homes repaired through the Dominicana Se Reconstruye program.

Bonilla also addressed the delivery of 10 health centers, putting at the service of the population, more than 630 hospital beds, in addition to six educational centers, including extensions of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in several regions of the country.
Regarding the modernization of the construction sector, the minister highlighted the implementation of the Single Construction Window (VUC) and the urban managers initiative, mechanisms that have streamlined the permit and license processes. In addition, he announced that the country is in a historic process of creating a new Construction Code that will unify regulations and strengthen safety and quality in buildings.
In addition to the Minister of Housing and Buildings, Carlos Bonilla, the Business 2025 Forum featured the participation of the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza; the Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freund; the Superintendent of the Securities Market, Ernesto Bournigal Rea; the general director of RD Vial, Hostos Rizik Lugo; and the executive director of the National Emergency and Security 911 System, Colonel Randolfo Rijo.
