Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said Israel is not willing to accept the creation of a Palestinian state because, in his view, “there is no such thing” as a Palestinian people.
Speaking to a local media outlet, Smotrich stated, “There is no Palestinian people and there never was.”
He argued that the Palestinian identity was “an invention designed to fight the State of Israel” and to deny Jewish nationalism and Zionism.
Smotrich added that Israel would not support the establishment of a Palestinian state, reaffirming his government’s opposition to such a move.
