Jerusalem.- The President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, visited the United States embassy in Jerusalem this Friday to deliver to the U.S. ambassador, Mike Huckabee, a congratulatory letter addressed to President Donald Trump on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, which will be celebrated tomorrow, Saturday.
In the letter, dated July 1, Herzog conveyed to Trump his “warmest congratulations” on behalf of “the people and the State of Israel” and described the anniversary as “a moment to honor the incredible triumph of the American spirit.”

The Israeli president underscored in the letter the “unique and unbreakable alliance” between both countries, which he said draws “from the same springs of the Bible” and from “the same fundamental values of freedom, democracy and human dignity.”
Herzog also thanked Trump for his “unwavering commitment to Israel’s security” and his “tireless efforts” to achieve the release of the hostages taken by Hamas and other Palestinian militias following their coordinated attack on Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.
The letter also refers to Trump’s decision, during his first term, to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and to move the U.S. embassy there, a step that broke with decades of international consensus and which the Palestinian community and a large part of the international community considered a unilateral measure contrary to international law.
During the delivery of the letter, Herzog stated he was “very excited and happy” to be at the U.S. embassy “in the capital of the State of Israel” and congratulated “the President, Congress, the leadership, and the people of the United States” on 250 years of independence, which he defined as “one of the most important moments in history.”
For his part, Huckabee welcomed Herzog and assured that Israel joins in the celebration of the American anniversary, while also thanking him for his presence at the diplomatic headquarters.
