Moscow.- The Kremlin criticized this Tuesday the refusal of the US authorities to issue a visa for the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexandr Alimov, who was going to accompany the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, during his trip to New York to participate in the activities of the UN General Assembly.
“This will undoubtedly be a topic that will be on the agenda during contacts with the Americans. It concerns new unfriendly actions against our country,” said the Russian Presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, in his daily press conference call.
According to Peskov, these are actions that “contradict the obligations of the United States as the host country of the UN headquarters.”

“A country that hosts the UN headquarters should not allow such actions. On the contrary, it has an obligation to ensure equitable representation of the United Nations member states,” he insisted.
Alimov was part of the Russian delegation led by Lavrov, who plans to hold more than 30 meetings on the sidelines of the General Assembly, including a meeting with his American counterpart, Marco Rubio.
Lavrov previously noted that hostilities between Russia and Ukraine could have ended a year ago if the agreements reached at the summit between the Russian and American presidents in Alaska in August 2025 had been implemented.

In addition, the Russian foreign minister announced that Russia is ready for a new round of negotiations regarding Ukraine as it has “something to say”.
Rubio, for his part, stated that a roadmap could be developed in the coming weeks to resume peace negotiations in Ukraine.
To this end, Washington already has a pressure tool. U.S. President Donald Trump, who had asked his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, to end the war in their last phone conversation, ratified the sanctions law that allows for the imposition of tariffs of up to 100% on countries that buy Russian hydrocarbons, such as China and India.
The last meeting between Lavrov and Rubio took place last July on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Manila and lasted 35 minutes.
