Trump cancels trip to Pakistan of his negotiators who were to speak with Iran

In statements to the Fox network, the US president justified the decision, alleging that the United States maintains a position of strength in the conflict, that it is not necessary to make long diplomatic trips without guarantees of results, and that the Iranians can call the United States whenever they want.

«I told my people a while ago, as they were getting ready to leave: ‘No, you are not going to take an 18-hour flight to go there’. We have all the cards. They (the Iranians) can call us whenever they want, but you are not going to take any more 18-hour trips to sit and talk about nothing», Trump affirmed to Fox.

Subsequently, in a message posted on his social network, Truth Social, Trump noted that: “Nobody knows who’s in charge, not even them. Besides, we have all the advantages, they don’t! If they want to talk, they just have to Iran was not planning to meet with Trump’s envoys.

Trump’s decision coincides with the departure of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi from Islamabad.

According to diplomatic sources confirmed to EFE, Araqchí left the capital of Pakistan for Oman after a day of meetings with Pakistani civilian and military authorities. Araqchi, who had previously denied any intention of meeting face-to-face with Washington’s envoys, left the country without waiting for the arrival of the US delegation, whose departure was initially scheduled for today.
