NEW YORK— Shortstop Francisco Lindor hit a home run from each side of the plate and made a key catch to prevent runs, leading the New York Mets to a 4-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies this Friday.

Lindor added his 21st multi-home run game in the Major Leagues and the second of this season. He also contributed a single in the third inning and scored from first after a double by Juan Soto, who broke a 17-at-bat hitless streak with that RBI hit.
Starling Marte, also Dominican, hit a home run against Kyle Freeland (0-8) to extend New York’s lead. The Mets have won five of their last six games.
On the mound, David Peterson (4-2) pitched effectively and was relieved in the sixth inning by Dominican Huascar Brazobán, who got a crucial out with runners in scoring position. Later, Sam Hilliard, in his first at-bat of the season, hit a pinch-hit home run against Brazobán to bring the Rockies closer.
The Mets’ bullpen held firm: Reed Garrett struck out two in the eighth, and Puerto Rican Edwin Díaz closed out the game with three perfect strikeouts in the ninth, securing his 12th save of the year. Díaz hasn’t allowed a single hit since May 5.
