New York City hiring for Staten Island Ferry jobs with no experience required

New York City is hiring for two full-time stock worker positions connected to the Staten Island Ferry, offering annual salaries ranging from $38,876 to $58,600. The positions do not require previous work experience or a specific level of education, and applications are open through October 8, 2026.

The jobs are with the Department of Transportation’s F&GA-Pier 7 maintenance area, located at 1 Bay St. in Staten Island. Workers will receive, store, distribute and maintain materials, supplies, equipment and tools used in ferry operations.

Duties include packing and unpacking items, counting, weighing and measuring materials, loading and unloading deliveries, operating equipment such as forklifts and electric transport vehicles, and checking shipments against invoices.

Employees will also select items from shelves to fulfill internal orders, maintain organized storage areas, help with inventories and use computer systems and handheld scanners to record information.

No specific education or previous experience is required. The city says candidates with experience in inventory, stock management or mail-related work may be preferred. Basic computer skills, organization, communication and the ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team are also valued.

Applicants must be able to lift and transport materials weighing up to 70 pounds. Selected candidates must also obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential, known as TWIC, or complete the required federal background screening within 30 days of appointment.

Applicants can apply through the official New York City job posting. The application deadline is October 8, 2026.
