Mariners smash 4 home runs and reclaim the American League West lead
Houston. The Seattle Mariners confirmed their dominance in the American League West Division with a resounding 4-0 victory over the Houston Astros at Daikin Park, thanks to a historic night in which they hit four solo home runs.
The team marked Seattle’s seventh consecutive victory and the 12th in their last 13 games, regaining exclusive possession of first place in their division. The winning streak also allows them to get closer to the coveted tiebreaker with the Astros and strengthen their aspirations for the postseason.
Among the home runs, Julio Rodríguez opened the scoring with his 31st of the season, while Eugenio Suárez hit his 47th of the year, the 11th since his return to the Mariners. Víctor Robles added his first home run of the year and Josh Naylor closed the night with his 20th of the campaign, reaching the 20/20 mark.
Despite the offensive joy, Seattle suffered a scare due to the injury of their All-Star starter Bryan Woo, who left the game in the sixth inning after feeling discomfort during warm-up. The severity of the injury has not yet been specified.
With this victory, the Mariners tied with the “Detroit Tigers” for second place in the American League standings, with an advantage in the tiebreaker, thus ensuring a strategic position for the postseason.
