SANTO DOMINGO. The Tigres del Licey formally started the 2025-26 season of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

In an event held this Monday, October 13th at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo, the 24-time national champions presented the pillars of their campaign, focused on the commitment, discipline, and responsibility that comes with defending the colors of the blue team.

“We know what the Tigres del Licey represent for millions of people, not only in the Dominican Republic, but anywhere in the world. Licey is the sports institution with the greatest national and international impact, and the more than two million followers on social media are a strong example of that reach,” said the team president during his speech. He added that the five letters of the Licey symbolize a feeling of commitment that obliges the organization to continue working to fulfill the dreams of its loyal fanbase: to once again conquer the national championship. For his part, General Manager Vicente thanked the support of the board of directors of the glorious blue team and officially presented the Baseball Operations Department, highlighting that the organization has formed “a competitive, balanced team with the ideal mix of experience and youth.” The blue team’s base group is made up of experienced players and young prospects, including pitchers César Valdez, Albert Abreu, Radhamés Liz, Jean Carlos Mejía, Jairo Asencio and Michael Arias, along with position players Emilio Bonifacio, Mel Rojas Jr., Francisco Mejía, Gustavo Núñez, Domingo Leyba, Cristhian Adames, Michael De La Cruz, Ramón Hernández, Cristian Hernández and Ángel Ortiz, among others.

Imported reinforcements

To strengthen their roster, Licey will have pitchers Paolo Espino, Cameron Gann, Nico Tellache, Ryan Watson, and Reiver Sanmartín, in addition to outfielders Víctor Labrada and Griffin Conine, utility player Armando Álvarez, and catcher Christian Bethancourt. All of them will make up the imported player roster that will accompany the Dominican core.

News Beyond the Field

Communicator and producer Josell Hernández returns as the official host of the blue team, while the young Michael Rodríguez joins the Licey’s pre-game show. Likewise, Miguel Arias will take on the creation of digital content for the TikTok platform, strengthening the team’s digital presence.

Press, Communications, and Public Relations

The Press Department will be headed by journalist Alex Luna, accompanied by Alex Rodríguez, Rosa Cuevas and Daniel Araujo. In multimedia will be Eduardo Smith (layout designer), Jafreisy Alcántara (audiovisual editing) and Víctor Calvo (photography).
Social media will be managed by the agency Casmer Sports. In Public Relations, the graduate Cynthia Morillo continues as director, along with Rosmeilys Mejía and Guaroa Ramírez as entertainment coordinator.

Transmission chain and official media

Licey’s games will be broadcast on free-to-air television by Digital 15 and Telemicro Internacional, as well as by LiceyTV Channel 50 and 474 HD (Altice), 1091 HD (Claro TV) and the official YouTube channel LiceyTube. In radio, broadcasts will be available through Independencia 93.3 FM for the metropolitan area and the East, KeBuena 105.7 FM for the Cibao and 103.9 FM for the South region. The broadcast team will be composed of the narrators Ildefonso Ureña, Franklin Mirabal, Radhamés González, José Luis Montilla and César Marchena; the commentators Fernando Ravelo, Tommy Troncoso, Rafael Díaz and Alex Luna; and the commercial voices Welkis Ricardo, Santos Peralta and Fernando Custodio.
The pre-game show will be hosted by Paloma Almonte and Roosevelt Comarazamy Jr., while Gerardo Bobadilla will be the Media Director and Edwin Asencio, audiovisual producer.

Start of Season

The 2025-26 LIDOM season kicks off this Wednesday, October 15, when the Tigres del Licey host the Leones del Escogido at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, starting at 7:30 PM.
