Núñez, 25, was recognized as Rookie of the Year for the 2022-23 season, after batting .263, with seven home runs and 18 runs batted in.
In four seasons in the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), the first baseman has accumulated nine home runs and 36 runs batted in, in addition to 74 hits.
“We continue working on shaping the roster; he is a right-handed hitter who provides balance to the number of offensive options the manager will have early in the season,” expressed Jesús Mejía, general manager of the Toros del Este.
The player from La Romana also shows good numbers at Estadio Francisco Micheli, where he records a .306 batting average and a .359 on-base percentage in 13 games.
With the arrival of Núñez, the Toros add another player acquired via trade during the offseason, joining infielder Enmanuel Valdez and left-handed pitcher Reymin Guduán.
Meanwhile, Pimentel returns to the organization that selected him in the 2015 draft. In his only season with the Toros, he batted .176/.391/.235, with no home runs and three RBIs in 26 games. In his LIDOM career, he has a .216 average, nine home runs, and 31 RBIs in 146 games.
The Toros del Este continue their preparation for the upcoming LIDOM season, scheduled to begin on October 16, while also preparing for the 2026 Rookie Draft, scheduled for the second Wednesday of September.
