Santo Domingo.— The president of the National Progressive Force (FNP), Pelegrín Castillo Semán, announced that the organization will present a Popular Legislative Initiative and a Citizen Petition next week regarding the Haitian crisis and its repercussions in the Dominican Republic.
Castillo also reported that the organization contemplates filing a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office against Amnesty International and other actors, although he did not offer further details regarding the legal actions he intends to undertake.

Through a public statement, the political leader maintained that the country is going through a moment that, in his view, demands that debates related to sovereignty, national security, and the situation in Haiti transcend partisan and electoral differences.
As explained, the initiative will be named “Dominicans, Let’s Face the Haitian Invasion and Occupation” and will be supported by numerals 3, 4, and 5 of article 22 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic, relating to citizenship and participation rights.
