Trevor Rogers, in his first home start with Baltimore, completely dominated the Texan offense, allowing just three hits in eight innings of work, his longest outing of the season and the most extensive for an Orioles starter this year. The lefty threw 101 pitches, 72 of them in the strike zone, without conceding walks and striking out four.

The offensive was led by Jackson Holliday, who drove in the first four runs of the game. In the third inning, he drove in Chadwick Tromp with a double, and then in the fifth, hit his ninth home run of the season, a 402-foot hit with two runners on base that opened the score to 4-0. Holliday finished the day 5-3, recording his seventh three-hit game of the year. Coby Mayo and Cedric Mullins also contributed with singles in the fifth inning, while Ramón Urías added a run batted in, and Dominicans Ramón Laureano and Gary Sánchez added hits in the victory. Texas opener Patrick Corbin (4-7) struggled against the Orioles offense, giving up five runs and nine hits in five innings. Rogers, who arrived in Baltimore via trade from the Marlins last July, continues to seek to regain the form that led him to be runner-up for Rookie of the Year in 2021.“It was a dominant performance. Total control of the game from the first pitch,” commented the Baltimore manager after the victory.
As for the catching corps, the Orioles were forced to make moves. Chadwick Tromp, recently called up from Triple-A, debuted with a key double after Maverick Handley went on the concussion list due to a collision on Sunday. Starting catcher Adley Rutschman is also out with an injury.“I feel healthy and confident. This city has welcomed me well, and today I wanted to give something back to them from the mound,” declared the left-handed pitcher after his first win of the year.
