PUNTA CANA, LA ALTAGRACIA.- With the satisfaction of duty fulfilled by competing at a high level representing the Dominican Republic, the national weightlifting and wrestling teams arrived in the country on Wednesday afternoon-evening, which conquered eight medals in the XX Bolivarian Games 2025 Ayacucho-Lima.

Cándida Vásquez, gold medalist in the weightlifting tournament of these games, led the arrival of the nine athletes who disembarked at Punta Cana airport. Weightlifting earned a gold medal, a silver medal, and two bronze medals, while wrestling won three silver medals and one bronze medal. Vásquez, who was the flag bearer for the Dominican delegation, positively valued returning to the country with good results, as well as serving as an inspiration for her teammates to win medals. Alongside the experienced weightlifter, who set the standard for the conquest of medals, being the first, came the bronze medalists in weightlifting, Pamela Rojas and Dauri Vargas, as well as the other Dominican representatives in said sports discipline, along with their coaches. Rojas revealed that she is still surprised with the result obtained, “I really didn’t expect it”. On the other hand, Vargas considers that they did a good job for which they are honored to represent. From his side, Edison Adames García, silver medalist in wrestling, expressed the pride he feels for having represented the country and raising the flag. “I am happy with the goal I achieved.” Adames was accompanied by fellow silver medalist wrestler, Carlos Alberto Adames, who indicated that the recently concluded competition will be part of the preparation process for the qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games
