Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Marileidy Paulino, Olympic 400-meter champion, will also compete in the 4×400-meter mixed relay event at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, scheduled for this Monday, announced this Sunday the Dominican Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kelvin Cruz.
As the official explained in a message released on the ministry’s social media, the decision responds to the possibilities of the Dominican Republic increasing its medal haul in the competition.
“We have identified that we have many possibilities to advance in the medal table if she can accompany us by competing in the mixed relay,” stated Cruz, who thanked Paulino for agreeing to join the team.

The Dominican relay team will be composed of Marileidy Paulino, Erick Sánchez, Anabel Medina, and Christopher Melenciano, Paralympic world champion.
The final of the event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. this Monday at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium.
As of this Sunday, the Dominican Republic held fifth place in the medal table of the Central American and Caribbean Games, with 57 medals, 13 of which are gold.
