Santo Domingo, RD. – The Dominican Republic’s Meteorology Institute (Indomet) reported that an upper-level trough will continue to affect the national territory this Thursday, generating a humid and unstable environment. From the morning hours, showers are expected in provinces in the northeast and southeast such as El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís and San Cristóbal.

In the afternoon, daytime heating will intensify the rainfall, causing cloud cover increases, heavy showers, thunderstorms, and possible wind gusts over Greater Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, Independencia, Bahoruco, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, and Monte Cristi. These conditions will persist until the early hours of the night, when a gradual decrease is expected, giving way to a sky of scattered clouds. For this Friday, a tropical wave will approach the country, causing in the afternoon and early evening new episodes of showers, thunderstorms and isolated wind gusts, mainly in the northeast, southeast, the Central Mountain Range and the border area, affecting provinces such as La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Romana, Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, Samaná, Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago, La Vega and San Juan, among others. INDOMED warns that temperatures will continue to be hot, with maximum values between 33 °C and 35 °C and minimums between 22 °C and 24 °C, due to the summer season. It is recommended to avoid unprotected sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., stay constantly hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, and seek cool and ventilated spaces, remembering that children and the elderly are more vulnerable to the heat. Forecast for Greater Santo Domingo- Distrito Nacional, Santo Domingo Norte, East and West: cloudy with showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts until the early hours of the night.
