282 undocumented Haitians are detained in different provinces of the Southern Region of the Country

Santo Domingo. – The Army of the Dominican Republic, as part of the interdiction operations carried out throughout the national territory, detained 282 Haitians in irregular migratory status, in different provinces of the Southern Region of the country. The arrests were made by members of the 11th Infantry Battalion, located in Elías Piña, assigned to service at the various checkpoints that make up this demarcation, where 126 foreigners were apprehended without the corresponding documentation. While in San Juan de La Maguana, members of the 12th Battalion detained 105 Haitians in an irregular migratory condition.

Also, in Azua, 51 foreigners were arrested, who at that time did not have documentation. The groups of undocumented immigrants were located in various operations carried out by ERD personnel, while attempting to evade checkpoints to enter the country by crossing rural areas. The foreigners were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the corresponding repatriation purposes.
