A total of 286 injured in Morocco due to disturbances following youth protests

At least 263 law enforcement officers Moroccan and 23 civilians were injured of varying severity by the riots that occurred last night in several towns in the Maghreb country on the fourth day of protests led by young people to demand greater social justice, job opportunities and reforms in the education and health sectors. The spokesman for the Moroccan Ministry of the Interior indicated that one of the injured civilians needed medical follow-up in Oujda (east), and 142 vehicles of the security forces and 20 private cars were destroyed and set on fire.

The protests, which began peacefully last Saturday in Rabat and other major cities such as Casablanca, Marrakech, Agadir and Tangier and which later spread to urban and rural areas of the country, turned into violent incidents on Tuesday night, during which several protesters – some with their faces covered – stoned the security forces.
