The National Police reported that during an intervention in the El Oxígeno sector, Pedro Brand municipality, a suspected criminal was shot and killed and another was arrested after both —allegedly— opened fire on the acting agents.
According to the official report, members of the police units were following the individuals, who, upon noticing the presence of the patrol, opened fire. The agents reacted and in the exchange, the suspect identified as Julio César Rosario Paulino was killed.
In fact, the authorities seized a 9mm caliber pistol with an illegible make and serial number, the origin of which is under investigation.
In addition to the deceased, a man identified as Santos Recio (25 years old) was also arrested, who was allegedly carrying another weapon. This detainee was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The police reiterated their commitment to continue operations to confront criminal activities and protect citizen security.
