Santo Domingo.- The Banreservas Cultural Center paid tribute to the masters of Caribbean music and Dominican son, Kundengo Minier and César Namnún, during the “A Ritmo de Son” concert, featuring Roberto Bobadilla and Son Urbano, in an evening dedicated to celebrating the legacy of two fundamental figures of the country’s traditional music.
The activity brought together lovers of son and Dominican culture to remember the compositions of both musicians and enjoy the traditional rhythms that have marked generations, in a night where music served as a vehicle to recognize their contributions to the preservation and dissemination of Dominican popular expressions.
As part of the tribute, Kundengo Minier received a plaque of recognition for his career and contribution to traditional Dominican music. Minier, a master of son and a member of the prestigious Minier family, has stood out for more than five decades for preserving and spreading the country’s popular rhythms.
Meanwhile, César Namnún is recognized as a composer, musician, and cultural promoter, as well as a figure linked to the research and dissemination of son and other traditional musical expressions of the Dominican Republic.

The concert was led by Roberto Bobadilla and Son Urbano, a group composed of Ramón Martínez Montaña on piano; Ramón del Carmen Ortiz on bass; Rafael Rodríguez Suárez on trumpet; Gioel Martin on tres; Hipólito Payano on chongos; and José Luis on güira and timbal.
“A Ritmo de Son” thus became an encounter with Dominican musical roots and a recognition of the legacy of two exponents who have contributed to keeping the son and other manifestations of the country’s traditional music alive.
