Colombia denies entry to 10 foreigners for alleged sex tourism at Medellín airport

Colombia. – The entity Migración Colombia reported that it denied entry to 10 foreign citizens at the José María Córdova International Airport, after detecting that they intended to enter the country for purposes related to sexual exploitation. According to the official report, nine of those denied entry are citizens of the United States and one from Anguilla. The cases were identified during immigration interviews conducted with a group that arrived on a flight from Miami, with a stopover in Panama. The authorities indicated that, during the luggage check and verification process, it was evident that the true purpose of the trip was related to sex tourism, which is why they were denied entry to Colombian territory on March 13th.

It was also reported that in the early hours of that same day, another foreigner who arrived from the Dominican Republic was denied entry, who had allegedly expressed to the authorities his intention to “choose women” to take them to his country. The figures provided by Migración Colombia reflect an increase in this type of case. So far this year, at least 26 foreigners have been denied entry for this reason at the José María Córdova International Airport. During 2025, the country registered 110 inadmissions related to these purposes, of which about 80 occurred at that same airport terminal. The director of Migración Colombia, Gloria Esperanza Arriero, highlighted the work of the officers and explained that these actions are part of the measures promoted by President Gustavo Petro’s government to prevent human trafficking and other related crimes. The authorities reiterated their commitment to strengthen immigration controls and combat any form of exploitation in the country.
