• App data shows that, during the 2025 Father’s Day weekend, travel requests increased toward shopping malls, transport stations, and entertainment areas in Santo Domingo and Santiago.
Santo Domingo. – Father’s Day is among the dates with the highest mobility dynamism in the Dominican Republic, driven by family gatherings and outings to share in restaurants and entertainment centers.
According to data from DiDi, during last year’s celebration, some of the main commercial, gastronomic, and entertainment areas of Santo Domingo and Santiago recorded demand increases of up to 60% in trip requests compared to the previous weekend. Given this behavior, DiDi is preparing to accompany Dominicans with different technological solutions with an impact on mobility and savings alternatives available in the application during one of the days with the highest circulation of the year.
“Behind many travel requests during Father’s Day is a family gathering, a visit to dad, or an opportunity to share with those we love most. That is why our goal at DiDi is to accompany those moments by providing technological solutions that facilitate user connection, even during times of high demand, with savings alternatives and safety features available in the application, so that more Dominicans can celebrate this date and arrive to enjoy time with their loved ones,” stated Douglas Quesada, Senior Communications Manager for DiDi.
During the celebration of this date in 2025 in Santo Domingo, some of the largest increases in travel requests were concentrated towards BlueMall Santo Domingo (29%), Ágora Mall (24%), Galería 360 (22%), the Caribe Tours bus station (37%), the Centro de los Héroes (28%), and Metro stations such as Concepción Bona (47%) and the María Montez station (23%).

In Santiago, the demand for trip requests through the app was even more pronounced in commercial areas and areas with high foot traffic, such as the surroundings of Parque Los Chachases (60%), Expreso Liniero (31%), El Encanto (36%), La Rotonda (33%), Calle 30 de Marzo (25%), Bella Terra Mall (21%), and Plaza Barcelona (35%).
With the purpose of meeting the high demand for travel requests during this celebration, DiDi makes its various technological intermediation solutions available to passenger users, such as DiDi Express, DiDi Pon Tu Precio, and DiDi Moto, offering technological alternatives that adapt to different transportation needs during this weekend.
Likewise, some passenger users will be able to access discounts available directly in the application during Father’s Day, especially for trip requests with destinations to shopping malls in Santo Domingo and Santiago. Additionally, the application will feature benefits for trip requests from or to participating Santo Domingo Metro stations, with the purpose of facilitating connections with public transport during the celebration.
Finally, and as part of its commitment to safety, DiDi highlights that 99.99% of trip requests mediated through the app are completed without any reported safety incidents. Additionally, each request includes safety features that can be activated from the start of the trip, including sharing the trip request in real-time with family or friends, information protection through anonymous phone numbers, and the audio recording feature during the trip request. DiDi also has a PIN Code, a verification feature that adds an extra layer of security when boarding the vehicle. Through this feature, the passenger receives a unique, random code that they must share with the driver before starting the trip request, which allows for verifying that both parties match the request registered in the app.
