Father of young man accused in woman’s death in Plaza Gómez Díaz admits he “got tired of advising him” and asks for justice to act

Santiago.- The father of Jordy Parra, one of the young men accused of shooting Jennifer Altagracia Rodríguez de González, 36, during an alleged robbery attempt last Saturday in Plaza Gómez Díaz, revealed this Thursday that he “got tired of advising” his son to leave the streets and the path of delinquency. Chano Parra, the defendant’s father, stated that the young man worked with him for several days, but then decided to leave and “take his own path.” “These are things one doesn’t want to happen, neither there nor here… nobody wants something that hurts to happen to them,” he expressed, visibly affected. The father assured that both he and the young man’s mother tried to get his attention on multiple occasions, but he insisted on staying on the streets.

“Every head is a world. If he committed the act, let him pay; and if not, let the magistrate know what she’s doing,” he added.

Jordy Parra was transferred on the afternoon of this Thursday from the José María Cabral y Báez Hospital to the Cibao Central Regional Directorate of the National Police, where he is being questioned by the Homicide Department.

The young man remained hospitalized for several days after receiving seven bullet wounds during the incident. The victim, a mother of three, died after being shot twice, once in the neck and another in the buttocks, while she was at the entertainment center. Meanwhile, the other young man who was accompanying Parra and who was also injured remains admitted in delicate condition at the Cabral y Báez Hospital, due to multiple gunshot wounds. The National Police and the Public Ministry are keeping the investigation open to establish responsibilities and clarify the circumstances in which the violent act occurred that has caused shock in Santiago.
