Santo Domingo.– President Luis Abinader inaugurated this Saturday the Rafael Osvaldo Mercedes “CROM” Sports Club in Villa Mella, marking a new boost to the sports and social development of North Santo Domingo.
Abinader recalled that this work was demanded for years by the community and its leaders, and that it puts an end to more than six decades of waiting, making it a symbol of hope and development for the youth of Villa Mella.
He pointed out that there were few sports roofs in this demarcation and noted that, in addition to the one in Villa Mella, others have been built in Sabana Perdida Norte and Los Guaricanos, within a plan that contemplates 30 similar facilities in Greater Santo Domingo.
The Head of State pointed out that his administration is working to solve historical problems in the municipality, such as the supply of drinking water and the sanitation of streams.
He added that work is being done to solve drinking water problems and indicated that the Salinity Barrier Aqueduct will directly benefit Santo Domingo Norte and in terms of sanitation, he explained that the ravines of Villa Emilio, Manguito and Altos de Sabana have already been intervened, and that work is underway in Marañón and Hoyo de la Mina. He also announced that Brisas del Norte and Pablito will be intervened next year.
While in the health sector, the president recalled that the Hospital Mario Tolentino Dipp was renovated with more than 2,000 million pesos and that the reconstruction and expansion of the Municipal Hospital of Villa Mella will begin from February of next year.
