Santo Domingo.– The Central Electoral Board (JCE) notified the Centro Económico del Cibao regarding the dissemination of an opinion poll that, according to the agency, was published outside the period established for this type of measurement for electoral purposes.

The notification was carried out through a bailiff’s act, after the polling firm released the so-called “National Public Opinion Poll” on August 6th.

According to the JCE, the publication was allegedly made in violation of the regulations governing the conduct and dissemination of electoral polls, specifically for disclosing these results before the start of the pre-campaign period.

The electoral body recalled that the pre-campaign for the 2028 elections is scheduled to begin on July 4, 2027, and noted that regulations establish restrictions on the publication of polls for electoral purposes outside of authorized periods.

The JCE indicated that the actions attributed to the Centro Económico del Cibao could constitute a violation of article 13 of the regulation, related to the publication or dissemination of opinion polls for electoral purposes outside the established deadlines.

However, the electoral body clarified that the notification is strictly provisional in nature and that, for the moment, it does not imply a definitive declaration of administrative responsibility or the application of a sanction.

The communication is part of the review process carried out by the JCE to ensure compliance with the provisions that regulate the dissemination of polls during the period prior to the elections.
