Santo Domingo. – The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received Miguel Mejía, better known as “Miguelón”, at the Miraflores Palace, who was removed in January of this year from his functions as minister without portfolio for Regional Integration Policies, by the Government of the Dominican president, Luis Abinader Corona.
Maduro posted a video welcoming “Miguelón” and said: “We welcomed Miguel Mejía, ‘Miguelón’, to the Miraflores Palace, who brought us the blessing of the Virgen de Altagracia from the Dominican Republic. Welcome to this, your homeland as well. Together, the peoples of the Caribbean, we reaffirm our commitment to a Peace that is genuine and lasting” he pointed out in the publication.
It is recalled that Miguel’s dismissal occurred after he showed disagreement with President Luis Abinader, who had shown support for the former Venezuelan presidential candidate, Edmundo González, while Miguelon has revealed his interest in the Government of Nicolas Maduro.
Similarly, Mejía was always in the eye of the storm for his approach to internationally questioned regimes, such as those of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua.
His open stance in favor of regional integration under left-wing ideological models has raised alarms, especially from sectors that consider that these alliances do not favor the democratic and economic interests of the Dominican Republic.
