Measures for Holy Week 2026 seek to preserve lives and ensure that Dominican families enjoy in peace, says Faride Raful

Samaná. – The Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful, assured this Tuesday that the preventive measures adopted for Holy Week 2026 seek to safeguard Dominican families, preserve lives, and ensure that this holiday is enjoyed in peace. Raful, along with the director general of the National Police, Major General Modesto Cruz Cruz, led a coordination meeting with local, provincial authorities and representatives of civil society in Las Terrenas. He indicated that it is a joint operation with the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety and the Ministry of Defense. The minister explained that police presence will be reinforced at strategic points, including beaches, roads, commercial zones, and areas with high concentrations of people.

He also highlighted that surveillance will be strengthened with two new vans and “some” motorcycles, which will be integrated into the patrol starting today. On the other hand, it was noted that the possibility of allowing a private party during Holy Week is being “evaluated“, without specifying the location or the nature of the event. He also emphasized that “the most important thing is to enjoy and stay alive“. On their part, the director of the National Police indicated that preventive operations, traffic controls, and permanent surveillance will be implemented, with special attention to the regulation of vehicular flow and the prevention of criminal acts. Authorities also called on citizens to act prudently, respect the established rules, and collaborate with security agencies to ensure a safe and orderly Holy Week.
