Santo Domingo, D.R. – The senator for the province of Azua, Lía Díaz, continues to promote initiatives to strengthen health services for the benefit of the population.

On this occasion, he presented a resolution requesting the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, to instruct the Executive Director of the National Health Service (SNS), Julio Cesar Ladrón, to install and put into operation a Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Unit at the Taiwan 19 de Marzo Regional Hospital, in the province of Azua.

During the session of the Senate of the Republic, Senator Guillermo Lama read the favorable report issued by the Public Health Commission, supporting the proposal presented by the legislator from Azua, considering that it will contribute significantly to the strengthening of specialized care in the Southern region.

The specialized unit will allow for the performance of studies and procedures such as upper videoendoscopies, digestive endoscopies, colonoscopies, and the removal of intestinal polyps, contributing to the early detection of pathologies and digestive tract cancer, which represents a significant advancement for the prevention, timely diagnosis, and treatment of these diseases.

With this initiative, patients in Azua and nearby provinces will be able to access specialized services without the need to travel to other hospitals in the country, reducing costs, waiting times, and improving the quality of medical care.

Senator Lía Díaz reaffirmed her commitment to continue promoting projects that strengthen the province’s hospital network and guarantee more modern, accessible, and higher-quality health services for all citizens.
