Santo Domingo.– The National Health Service (SNS) commemorated its eleventh anniversary this Friday with a thanksgiving mass held at the Primatial Cathedral of America, where the institution’s authorities renewed their commitment to continue strengthening the Public Health Network for the benefit of the Dominican population.
The Eucharist was led by the executive director of the SNS, Dr. Julio Landrón, together with national and regional directors, collaborators, and other authorities of the entity. The religious ceremony was officiated by Monsignor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán.
During his speech, Landrón thanked God for the institution’s 11 years of service and highlighted that the SNS’s mission has been to preserve life and guarantee increasingly accessible, timely, and quality healthcare.
“This Eucharist invites us to remember that health is much more than the treatment of an illness; it is a permanent act of solidarity, of respect for human dignity, and of love for one’s neighbor,” the official expressed.
The director of the SNS indicated that the celebration also represents an opportunity to reflect on the achievements reached and the challenges overcome, while reiterating the commitment to continue promoting a public health system that is more humane and closer to the citizens.

In the homily, Monsignor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán urged medical and health personnel to perform their duties with humanity, sensitivity, and a vocation for service, considering that their mission transcends clinical care and consists of caring for and preserving life.
The religious leader stated that humane treatment strengthens healthcare institutions and turns hospitals into spaces where patients find not only medical care, but also hope.
“May there be no lack of humanity or love in accompanying others. You are forgers of hope, because every patient arrives with the dream of healing. The mission of caring for the lives of others is an honor and a privilege,” he stated.
The mass is part of the commemorative activities program organized by the National Health Service on the occasion of its 11th anniversary, reaffirming its commitment to guaranteeing timely and quality health services for all Dominicans.
