The Mellos are in the final of the North Division of the National District softball

Santo Domingo.– The Los Mellos league team defeated La Puya and obtained the first ticket for the final round of the North Division in the Junior Superior category of the XXXV softball tournament, organized by the National District Association, (Asadina). The Mellos defeated La Puya with a score of 9-7, in the match that pitted them against each other at the Hoyo de Chulín stadium of the Puerto Isabela/Alfredo Tejada sports complex. In the South Division, the teams Villa Juana and Adovenprofar-A won their respective matches and will face each other in search of their pass to the divisional grand final, in the match held at the Miramar club stadium. Apolinar Durán, president of the Asadina, indicated that the competition is for the Confraternidad 2025 cup and is recognized with the dedication to Rafaelín Franjul and Jorge Rijo. The official ball of the tournament is the 4Fans and the Z-mil bats, distributed by JM. Alvarez, co-sponsor.

The results

With a five-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Twins’ team set the final score at 9-7. Rolando Mateo was the winning pitcher and Héctor Ramírez lost.

Yardy Marte hit a home run, scored and drove in two for the winners; Brandy Rivas, home run, one run scored and two RBIs; Robert Cruz, a double and a single helped Alain Ferrera and Juan Carlos Hernandez. Villa Juana’s selective team defeated the Peña Gómez league, to face Adovenprofar-A for a ticket to the final round of division. With a final score of nine innings to two, the game won by Villa Juana passed, where Ángel Castillo was credited with the victory and Julio Valdez lost. Vladimir Flores, with a home run and a single, was the best with the bat for the winners, with two runs scored and one RBI, helped by Vladimir Taveras, who hit a home run and a single with one run scored and two RBIs.

Adovenprofar-A knocked out the Naco league 11-1. Jesús Grullón was the winning pitcher and Robert Guillén lost. Elison Soto hit two home runs for the winners and Rafael Hernández a double and a single.

The ninth Comercio en Marcha, which defeated Adovenprofar-B, is scheduled to play against the Luperón league in a repechage match that will be played on Thursday at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo stadium at 6:45 in the evening. That game happened with a score of 11 runs to 10. Francisco Berd was the winning pitcher and Juan Guillén lost. For the winners Javier Acevedo homered and singled; Alberto Díaz, double and single and Winston Villafaña, two singles.
