They denounce alleged police abuse and aggression against a family in the El Almirante sector

Santo Domingo.Mrs. Dayra Elizabeth Samidis de Guerrero, member of the Dominican Air Force, publicly denounced having been a victim of alleged abuse of power, physical aggression and death threats by an officer identified as Colonel Mateo, in an event that occurred in her residence located on Respaldo Rodeo street, El Almirante sector.

According to the complainant’s testimony, the incident occurred while she was celebrating her birthday with her children and family at her home, where a small grocery store also operates. She claims that the officer appeared aggressively at the scene, without saying a word, and began to act violently against those present. “He arrived in a bad way, assaulting, and in the middle of the incident he strangled one of my minor children until he passed out. When I tried to intervene, he assaulted me and later they detained me for three days,” said Mrs. Samidis. The complainant also stated that the colonel had fired shots in the vicinity of the house, endangering the lives of her children and neighbors. She indicated that at least 11 shell casings were collected at the scene and that, after the incident, her business remains closed for fear of retaliation.

In addition, she stated that she received direct threats: “He said he was going to make my life impossible and that wherever he saw my children he was going to shoot them.” For his part, his son, Edward Andrés Franjul Samidis, reported that he was also a victim of physical aggression and persecution inside the house. He explained that the officer hit him on multiple occasions, shot him at close range without hitting him, and pointed a gun at him inside the house. “The colonel slapped me for no reason, then chased me to the third level of the house, where he fired at point-blank range. Thank God he didn’t hit me,” he narrated. The young man also reported that several police officers entered the house without a warrant, destroying belongings, throwing objects, and causing material damage, including his vehicle, which was attacked with blunt objects. The fact also mentions the participation of another agent identified as Yeimi Adriel, who allegedly entered the house along with other police officers. The family indicated that, despite attempting to file a formal complaint, the authorities had not received the mother’s complaint, only accepting that of one of the children, while the officer indicated is listed as the alleged aggrieved party. Among those affected are also the minors Andreivi Samidis Guerrero and Elian Guerrero, who, according to the complaint, had been victims of aggressions during the incident. The complainants called on the competent authorities to investigate the case transparently and ensure justice, while expressing fear for their safety.

“We just want justice to be done and to be able to live peacefully in our own home,” concluded the complainant.
